About Ganly Craigie
Welcome to the Ganly Craigie website
Ganly Craigie Auction Company was established in 1897 by the three Craigie brothers John, Arthur and Alex. The first auction hall was located in the old cattle market in Prussia Street, Dublin 7.
In the late thirties the second generation of the Craigie family began working in the business, his name was Mr. Robert Craigie.
It was then in 1969 that Robert’s son Robert Jnr. got involved in the company as the third generation of the family.
After 73 successful years the company moved to Ashbourne, Co. Meath in April 1970. The new premises were state of the art for their time and ensured the family held their position as the premier plant and machinery auctioneers.
As Robert Jnr got more and more involved in the business, Robert Snr. decided to retire in 1983, after over fifty successful years at the helm. Robert Jnr finally retired from the business in May 2012 and completed a handover transition with the Merlin Group in September 2012.
Ganly Craigie have maintained a successful business through some of Ireland’s toughest economic recessions. It is amazing to think that over the course of the three generations the basic premise of the business stayed the same with only the technology of the plant and machinery changing over time. Considering this and the fact that the company has over 117 years experience, it is easy to see why Ganly Craigie are Ireland’s premier plant & machinery auctioneers.
Ganly Craigie is a sister company to Merlin Car Auctions.
